When it comes to wedding day signage, you can be minimal or you can go all out! I’m a huge fan of going all out because I just love branding a wedding and a cohesive look. There are so many fun things we can do — but are a bare minimum, there are four pieces of wedding day signage you’ll want to consider for your wedding day.
Let’s take some time to dive into the most important pieces of wedding day signage that will make sure your wedding is both beautiful and practical.
1 | Escort Cards or Seating Chart
Letting your guests know where they’ll be seated is an absolute must! I strongly encourage a seating plan opposed to open seating as it causes a lot of confusion.
Once you have a seating plan, how should you communicate that to your guests? While there are seveal different ways to do this, the most popular (and traditional) option is through Escort Cards. Escort Cards tell your guests which table they’re sitting at so you’ll need one per couple. You can also consider a seating chart.
2 | Table Numbers
Now that your guests know which table to go to, they need to know which table is which! You can display table numbers in a variety of ways or tuck them into your florals — there are so many options! — but the main point is that it should be clear and easily visible from a distance to see which table is which. You want the reception to start off smoothly!
3 | Menus
Menus are a great place to think outside of the box, especially if they’re doubling as place cards. There is SO much creativity to be had with menus and I love it when my clients come to me with ideas that seem so out of reach. Menus can make an incredible statement on your reception table so while they seem unnecessary I strongly encourage you to consider otherwise and give them plenty of thought and consideration.
Side note: an escort card directs your guests to their table, and the place card directs your guest to their assigned seat. A place card is necessary for a sit-down dinner and should have a signifier on it letting the server know what meal your guest is to receive.
