Choosing the right stationery designer is a big deal, and it’s important to make sure you’re in sync throughout the process. Here’s a few key questions to ask before you hire someone (like me!) and before you dive into the creative journey together:
1. What does your design process look like?
You’ll want to know what to expect once you start working together. How many revisions and proofs will you get? How long does it take for a design to be drafted? And just in case life gets a bit hectic, what’s the deal if you miss a client due date? Are there any upfront fees we should discuss? Let’s make sure all these answers vibe with what you’re looking for!
2. How long does production typically take?
Once we nail down the design, how soon can you expect the finished product? And let’s talk logistics – how’s the delivery happening? Do I handle assembly and addressing, or should you be on the lookout for someone else to lend a hand?
3. What’s my role in the process?
How much do I expect from you in this creative adventure? Will there be deadlines for your contributions? How much time should you carve out to ensure our project flows smoothly? Knowing your part in the process can make all the difference between a stressful design experience and one you genuinely enjoy.
4. Can we sync up on timelines?
If time is of the essence, or if you’re eyeing some premium touches like foiling or letterpress, it’s crucial to check in upfront. Are we aligned with your timeline, especially if it’s tight? Any considerations around holidays impacting your stationery’s mailout date? Let’s make sure we’ve got all the details covered!
The design process is my favorite part of the stationery design phase! Once you’ve had your consultation and chosen a designer, its time to sit back and relax — it’s the time for the magical part to happen! Would you like to book a consultation with me? I’d love to hear more about your wedding!
