It’s here! My brand new collection is finally here!
This collection has been a true labor of love. It’s been a long, long work in progress. I’ve been working on this collection long, long before my daughters first birthday and didn’t go to print until January… so if you’re counting, that’s over six months of designing, revising, proofing, production and photography. To say this wasn’t a labor of love would be an understatement!
I had a release date of January 1 stuck in my mind, and was working toward that goal but faced so many obstacles and hurdles. December was a very dark and trying month for us, and one where I snuggled my baby just a little tighter and cried a whole lot more. December was filled with heartache and sadness and death. Finishing my collection didn’t seem so important for awhile.
Then, my computer crashed. C-R-A-S-H-E-D. I’ve never been so thankful for backing up my files on a consistent basis. My trusty computer of five years went ka-put the Friday before Christmas, and my amazing husband had parts overnighted so we could build me a new computer. We spent Christmas Eve assembling toys and building a computer. Not exactly how we intended on spending our Christmas Eve, but….
And because I needed one last kick in the pants, the hard-drive we’d ordered was bad. My computer ran well for a day or two, but two days after Christmas my computer had crashed again. Luckily, this was an easy fix, but my collection was on hold once again. We spent our week off working and reloading thousands of files and fonts and programs back onto my computer for a second time in five days. I thought my photographer was going to kill me (I kept telling her, “I swear I’m going to production soon! Honestly!!”) and my printer thought I was nuts (I kept telling them “I’ll be sending files soon, pinky swear!”).
But now? The samples are in. They’re in hands of some of my favorite wedding planners and the feedback I’m getting gives me goosebumps. My photographer Shay, who I adore to pieces, sent me sneak peeks along the way and when I finally got the photos in my inbox, I cried.
