I started my company seven years ago unintentionally. Seriously, it was an accident. If you want to get really specific, it’s been closer to fifteen years and that’s just really insane to say because I was only 15 at the time. Yes, for real, I was 15. The short-long version of the story is that art has been my entire life and I started designing posters for a band when I was 15, which I continue to do through college. So really, my passion and love for design goes way back & my knowledge for design and print goes back to the late 90s. I did go to college for communications and studied advertising & design, and got a job right out of school designing for a local rape crisis clinic. Then I met my now-husband Ben, we fell in love, got engaged, and the wedding invitation selection suuuuucked. So I designed our own and as they say, the rest is history. The DIY scene was huge in 2006 and that’s how I came up with Blush Printables – you know, Print Your Own invitations.
That company name has worked me for years and years, as the DIY movement was huge for so long.
It still is, in a way. It’s amazing for parties and some events, but the wedding industry is moving away from the DIY movement and there’s a reason for that. For a really long time, people loved being able to say, “Look what I can do!” (yes, I’m channeling my inner Mad TV) but a lot of couples are busy now. They want a tangible product and they don’t want to deal with learning the ins and outs of paper, finding a printer to work with, and having to take the time to cut and assemble paper. And that’s totally okay, because I absolutely LOVE paper. Like, seriously. I hoard paper. I love the texture, look and feel of paper. I’m a paper snob. I could work at Dunder Mifflin that’s how much I love paper.
So here’s the deal. I’ve grown, my company has grown, and the industry has changed. Shortly after Chloe was born in 2011 I started offering fully printed suites. I always printed for myself, but I realized how much I loved control (ha ha ha) over printing for my clients. This was a great option for so many years and I’ve proudly served hundreds of wedding clients, but having the name ‘printables’ associated with my company name has become really confusing.
So here I am: Blush Paper Co. has officially launched. Same amazing service, a new line of invitations, and we’ve got it all. We’ve got letterpress, foil and calligraphy. Guys, I feel like Oprah. LETTERPRESS FOR YOU! WRAPPING PAPER FOR YOU! COASTERS FOR YOU!
Our Etsy shop will still operate under Blush Printables. Consdier Blush Paper Co. a sister store: We will exclusively design wedding stationery and wedding accessories under this new copmany.
We’re PUMPED and can’t wait to work with you! Ready to get started?
